Natasha on tomorrow’s Bexhill Show

Hello fellow bats,

Just a little message to say that I’m really excited to see those of you who are coming to the Bexhill show tomorrow… and to let you know a little of what will be happening.
It wont be your average Bat For Lashes show…!

We have planned it to be in two halves - the first will be to introduce our new drummer Valentina to you. We will be playing a 45 min set of songs from across both albums, in preparation for our tour with Coldplay in South America next week. All very exciting!

Then we will have a 20 min interval to prepare for a very special and exclusive one off set of songs…I dont want to say too much about it, but it promises to be a very intimate and magical performance….a string quartet and projections by Julia Pott and Robin Bushell being the highlights! Ive been practising this week, and a little nervous but so excited about it. Cant wait to see you!

love natasha xx..x.x….x.x

Tonight, the stars are a billion diamonds.  The sea a black silk gown across the shingle.  The moon shows a crescent smile and I’m glowing.  My soul is smoking a cigarette and De La Warr is burned on my memory.  Songs that left me spellbound and gasping.  Then that extra treat with you and the strings..  Lullaby and Solsbury Hill, genius!  Have a fantastic time in South America and come back soon.  Stuart X

Hey, natasha! I’ll be at the são paulo concert and hope the set can include siren song/travelling woman/the wizard! One of the three would already make it rock for me. I’ll be there only for you!

Love, Bruno

Thanks for the truly magical show you put on @ Bexhill Friday night Natasha: I feel so blessed I could be there. Valentina proved herself a worthy successor to the amazing Sarah Jones; and great to see the scintillating contributions of Charlotte and Ben again (after catching your wonderful Oxford gig last October; and Charlotte’s impressive solo stint @ Winchester in Nov as it happens). A very fine support act in Marques BTW (despite apologies to Lady GaGa!). 1st half was as exceptionally phenomenal as any so-called “average Bat For Lashes show” to use your modest expression, as if there could ever be such a thing. But I was utterly captivated by the intimate & spooky 2nd half, with your gorgeous string arrangements of those Radiohead, Cure, Bowie & Gabriel covers, all of which you totally made your own in your inimitable spell-binding way. (The atmospheric video projections just added to the whole heart-stopping/haunting experience). Perhaps the highlight for me though was unearthing your rare gem of a song ‘Howl’, which I knew (& adored) as a B Side to one of my favourites, Trophy, but never thought to hear you perform live. Well, I hope you enjoy escaping the miserable British winter with Coldplay (who are lucky to have you IMHO) down Mexico way etc. God speed, Pete

Just wanted to say thank you so much for the awesome gig at the De La Warr.
It was a great evening and the special set with the string quartet was the icing on the cake. smile
Lullaby was my favourite.

Hope to see you in Bexhill again in the future….

I went to the Bexhill gig. It was the first time i’d ever heard your music, (apart from checking on the net that day), and i thought it was excellent ! I took my daughter along to her first ever professional gig. I wasn’t sure if she’d like it, but after the first ,she said, ‘wow, that’s amazing’. Thanx for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, i loved it. I enjoyed the support act as well,he was great. One last thing, i must admit i wasn’t sure about what to expect from the strings part, but i was bowled over. I’m normally a metalhead, but the evening was excellent. And the thing that really come across, was how much you all seemed to be enjoying yourselves, especially Valentina. I’ve played drums for 35 yrs., so i know where i’m coming from. Once again, thanks ! A brilliant evening !! All the best for the future.

I never (in a million years) thought I’d here you sing Howl live, what a treat!! But Lauren and I seemed to be the only guys singing along, he, he.

Thanks for a great night Natasha, and we thoroughly enjoyed your (quite brilliant) special performance, just for us at Bexhill.

All our love and best wishes for your South America experience.
